Cape Coral, FLORIDA – Helping Hands for the Holidays, an annual fundraising event sponsored by The Aubuchon Team of Companies, raised $34,500 to benefit three local charities: Make-A-Wish Southern Florida, Ronald McDonald House Charities SWFL, and Builders Care, a non-profit division of the LEE BIA.
Celebrating the event’s 17th anniversary, Aubuchon Team of Companies exceeded their goal of $30,000. Fund-raising activities coincided with a Rockefeller Center-type holiday tree lighting ceremony to kick-off the holiday season, entertainment provided by Heights Elementary, and other youth, and an official visit from Santa Claus. Representatives from each non-profit organization were in attendance.
The festivities included desserts donated by Team Aubuchon team members, and many signature dishes donated by more than 17 local restaurants, including Bubba’s Roadhouse, Rumrunners, Fathoms, Cork Soakers, Water City Grill, PDQ, Ceno Grill, Lobster Lady, Slates, Anthony’s on the Blvd, and Nevermind.
Diane VanArsdale, Team Aubuchon’s Director, Marketing & Sales, said, “What better way to celebrate the season than to take time to give back to local children and families in need? We are thrilled to host this Christmas kick-off event, and even more excited to surpass our fundraising goal! Thank you to everyone who participated and took time to attend!”

Lee County Sherriff's Department Arrest Unlicensed Contractors
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, with the support of the Lee BIA, are very pleased to report 68 arrests for unlicensed contractor activity in the five county area of Southwest Florida, the highest in the state. The support of Lee BIA Emeritus Board Member and Staff Officer, Darryl Aubuchon, with the Lee County Sheriff’s, Office was instrumental in this effort. Officer Aubuchon, along with the BIA, were recognized by the State for their efforts on a sting operation conducted last fall. “Unlicensed contracting is not a victimless crime, the safety of the consumer is at risk when unlicensed work is done by unscrupulous contractors. Many of these consumers are not familiar with our building code requirements in Florida and are taken in by these characters.”–Darryl Aubuchon, Staff Officer LCSO (and Lee BIA Board Member)
